Saturday I am up ready to go I have done all I can for now and with being stretched down at the gym over the week my body is balanced and rearing to go.
I register, do a warm up, fix my shoes, and they call for us to get ready, He calls one minute to go, we all chatting and waiting to go, I am thinking what am I doing. Well to late to change my mind now only way to get back to Palmy is to walk. He calls out and we are off, (more…)
Wouldn’t it be great to go to the shop and find that pill or potion that is going to give your body all the nutrients it needs to function properly and still lose weight and to feel full all the time.
When I think of all the times I have done a fad diet, I look back and think now how much damage was I doing to my body,
From: high protein, no carb, only egg whitesas main part, from pills to make my thermo go higher, to pills and drinks to make me feel fuller so I would not eat so much.
I look back now thinking what was I doing, We need so much nutritional food a day to keep our bodies running right. Then add on the fact that we are now working out which means we need to be fueling it even better to be able to get the best out of the work out, If you are starving yourself having less than the 1200 your working out hard eventually your body is going to give in and you will get ill. Your body will go in to starvation mode so that when you do eat your body will actually hold on to the food cause it will be worried when the next time it will be fed. If you eat and have a healthy life style or you are proceeding in the right direction. You don’t need to starve your self or go an a fad diet, Sustainability is what you are looking for, When you first start to redo what your are eating. You will lose weight but remember that a lot of that to start off with will be water. If you are doing a fad diet you also have to remember that you will lose muscle and we really do not want that, we want your muscle so that when we work out with weights you will get the nice toned look.
Have a good think about what you really want from your eating habits?
Do you want to starve your body
Do you want to feel lethargic
Not get good results from working out.
I know what I want, I want to get food, I want to have energy and I want to have good workouts.
YOU too can have this. Put down that chemical concoction that is putting your body out of balance, and start listening to what your body wants.
Example: Craving sugar, grabs natures sugar, Fruit apples oranges, etc,
When you think your hungry when did you last it if it was only 20 mins ago and you had lunch.. when did you last drink .. you could be thirsty. or have you upped your work out and your body gone into over drive and your needing to eat more food that is fine to your body is asking for food. Being in tune with what you are wanting and being able to listen to your body on what it wants is a very good step to be at.
The next step is the hardest.
Habits.. So for the last 20 years you have had pies on a Monday. Fish and chips on Friday, You get chips and dip for Saturday night, Hey humans love habit we really do not like change at all. So what can’t just drop food. or a habit. we have done it for so long. The key here is replacement or diversion, For starters look to see what your habits are make a list pros and cons. see which habits are doing your health the most damage. Now you know what is doing your healthy damage. The next step is to work out what you can replace it with. Find items even sit down and work a meal planner for the week putting in all the healthy replacements you possibly can. Now you have a shopping list if you don’t have it in the house you can not eat it. Most of your food on your list from your changing habits list will be from the round the outside of the supermarket. vege fruit nuts bread meat dairy, there will be things like cereal/ porridge peanut butter and a few other items form the inside but not the junk food cause that is not on the list.
Sounds easy aye.. it is hard to change and it does take time but you are heading in the right steps by just reading this blog and getting the exercise.
Have Faith in your self believe you can do it your worth it

Once it meant the diet of the person what the person was eating.. now the word diet you think of WW Jenny Craig..etc,
It got me thinking as I was reading an article on Diet food. why don’t we say ‘healthy food’ sounds much better we all know that a diet has a start and an end, so we have to think if they are saying diet food, does that mean we will eat it when we are dieting.. I would rather see people leave out the word diet and say healthy life style or healthy eating. These to do not have a start and an end. (well at the moment) for seen companies have assisted in changing the way we use the word diet.
I feel people should be writing Healthy food or in season foods. natural foods are healthy and all foods if eaten in moderation means you can still lose weight,(prefer if we could all cut out the junk food but even I give in to temptation every now and then) I am only human.
I still eat all the meals I used to cook I just found healthier ways of doing so.
So what does the word diet mean to you? how do you per sieve the word. What sort of mind set do you need to be in to get past the word diet. What are you looking for? a short term goal or a long term goal.
When you start thinking and changing your mind set healthy food.. instead of the D word. then you have just had a big breakthrough you now know if you eat healthy for as long as you feel the need to (hopefully for the rest of your life, your body will love you for it) it is then you are in control. You know what is right and wrong you know that what you are doing is part of a healthy life style
Took me a while actually a really long time for me to realise that you don’t need a diet. You need to research and learn to eat healthy and why we need to, This way you will give yourself power and determination so see that eating healthy does not only give you a wonderful body on the outside it gives your inside of the body a reason to keep going strong for a really long time.

Pushing yourself.. We got talking today about pushing yourself.. having goals. For me doing half marathons, 12km for Tough Guy Girl. how do you push though it.. There is a saying cave man… we have been installed in us to stop.. cave man time if they got worried about getting hurt they stopped and went home. We now have Doctors, physio, and many other kinds of healers out there. We also have more awareness of our bodies what it can do why we do things what exercise we can do to make us stronger. So we have to over come the cave man thought, when you get to that point you just can not do any more find 5 more 10 more. If I am walking a Half marathon I can have that I start thinking what am I doing? what was I thinking? 21.5km.. So I have cave man syndrome at times. Finding the mentality to push through things when a task is tough. This is why my PT and I have been pushing our self. So that when I am doing half marathons and when I do Tough Guy Girl. So being physically fit is one thing but to have the right mentality to get you through your exercise or event is important to.

After a year of doing crunches, side plank lifts and leg raises, this morning I was doing my usual weight/strength training. I laid down on the floor and I sat up. I thought I was only going to do my normal crunch as I have been doing for the last year and I have been getting higher but nothing to write home about. So I start and I end up sitting up, I looked at Richard as if to say “how the heck did I do that” I laid down again and tried I did 2 reps of 10 situps.. I felt so proud of myself today. I have wanted to do these since the beginning of the year. Perseverance pays off. You have a choice in life. Start today what ever it is you are wanting to do cause in 6 months or a year you could be achieving great things, or in a years time you could be thinking “If I had only started 6 months ago”
P.s I have also added 5kg weights to my lunges. I hope to get them up to 10-12.5kg.. as that is what I am using for my other weight work outs.
Every now and then I like to push myself, my PT is great at assisting me in this, 21 July I am going to be doing Tough Guy Girl.. Today I have increased my walking on the treadmill and on the bike, I went to the gym twice today. Usually I do a training walk in the evening but with really cold temps and no thermal tops I have no desire to freeze. So I have been popping into the gym on nights I should be walking. today I burnt 1150 calories.
It is good to every now give it a push, helps you to be able to really see what you can do, but also helps to push you past your sluggishness, I am worker harder than I ever have..
